Rares Stanciu received two Bachelors Degrees and Masters Degree at the Politehnica University of Timisoara. He earned his first Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1994. His thesis was Switched Reluctance Machine Start Simulation and his advisor was Prof. Ion Boldea. Three years later, he received his second Bachelors Degree in Electronics. His thesis was Three Phase Soft-Start System for AC Machine using Intel 8051 Microcontroller and his advisor was Prof. Ivan Bogdanov. In 1995 he went on to receive his Masters in Electrical Engineering with the thesis Driving Switched Reluctance Motor Using Intel 8051 Microcontroller under the guidance of Prof. Dorin Popovici.
